Xiaomi Mi 8 Explorer Review

Xiaomi Mi 8 Explorer Specs has the similarities of the Mi 8 model. It was announced along with the Mi 8 and Mi 8 SE but still not available until now in the global market. The phone is expected to be available by the early of July 2018. The only difference between the Mi 8 Explorer is the battery capacity and other features that it doesn’t have on Mi 8 model. The size and most of specs and features are very similar.

Mi 8 Explorer comes with 6.21 inches Full-screen view with Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display. It has a dimension of 154.9 x 74.8 x 7.6 mm (6.10 x 2.94 x 0.30 in) and weighing 177g. The phone is built with front/rear glass and aluminum frame (7000 series). It is Dual Nano SIM card with dual standby mode and supported network band up to 4G LTE. The display resolution of the phone is 1080 x 2248 pixels, 18.7:9 ratio and 402PPi density. It is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 and additional features of HDR10 display and DCI-P3.

A multitouch phone that runs with the UI of MIUI 10 version. The operating system based on the Android 8.1 Oreo and powered by 2.8 GHz Octa-core Qualcomm SDM845 Snapdragon 845 processor along with the GPU of Adreno 630. The phone has a RAM capacity of 8 GB and a built-in internal memory of 128 GB storage. But Mi 8 Explorer doesn’t support with external memory for the expandable storage. Storing images, video and installing apps will only limit to the 128 GB capacity.

As for the camera lens, the Mi 8 Explorer has a dual camera lens at the back of the device. It has the quality of 12 MP (f/1.8, 1/2.55″, 1.4µm, 4-axis OIS, dual-pixel PDAF) + 12 MP (f/2.4, 1/3.4″, 1.0µm) with 2x optical zoom and dual pixel phase detection autofocus and dual-LED flash. Additional camera features packs with Geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, HDR, and panorama. The secondary camera has the quality of 20 MP (f/2.0, 0.9µm), 1080p. And the video resolution for recording has the quality of 2160p@60fps and 1080p@30/240fps.

The smartphone has a loudspeaker features, Active noise cancellation with dedicated mic and Type-C to 3.5 mm headphone jack adapter. The connectivity pack with features and specs of WiFi (dual-band, Wi-Fi Direct, DLNA, and hotspot), Bluetooth 5.0 (A2DP, LE, aptX HD), GPS (dual-band A-GPS, GLONASS, BDS, GALILEO, QZSS), NFC, and USB Type-C 1.0 reversible connector. One of the highlights of the Mi 8 Explorer is Fingerprint scanner (under-display) and Face ID. It also has the features of accelerometer, gyro, proximity, barometer, and compass. The battery capacity is 3000 mAh Li-Po non-removable with fast charging (Quick Charge 4.0+) features. The color available of the phone is only Black (transparent back). The official price of the Mi 8 Explorer is CNY 3,699 or Php 29,996.31 Philippines market price.
